Simon Heinrich married Wilhelmine Fredericke Nagel on July 6 1857 in the Town of Herman. Wilhelmine Fredericke Nagel is the daughter of Conrad and Caroline Nagel from Helfsensdorf, Germany. In 1862, Simon Heinrich Wehrmann enlisted to fight in the American Civil War. He fought for the 27th Regiment of Wisconsin Infantry. He died during the war on July 19 1863 in Snyders Bluff, Mississippi, of a fever. He was buried somewhere in Mississippi near where he died. Later, some of the soldiers who died and were buried there were reinterred and buried in Vicksburg National Cemetery, Vicksburg, Mississippi. Those graves are marked as unknown. Simon Heinrich Wehrmann may still be buried in an unmarked grave near Snyder's Bluff or may be buried in an “unknown soldier” grave in Vicksburg.
