Summary

All of the following information comes from the 1880 US census and reference 3

Mary Arpke's full name was Marie Sophie Arpke. She was born on February 4 1821 in Eichholz Amt Hohenhausen.

Mary Arpke is not listed with the Arpke family in the list of original Lipper Settlers, but rather is most likely "Mrs. Simon Steffen" in entry #11 in the list.

Mary Arpke married Simon Steffen in Lippe-Detmold some time before the trip to America.

Mary Arpke died a few years after arriving in America.

Simon Steffen owned land adjacent to Frederick Reineking's land in the Town of Herman. Simon Steffen donated 5 acres of land, along with Frederick Reineking who donated 10 acres, to build the Mission Haus in 1861. See the short note on Mission Haus in the story of Frederick Reineking.
