Marie Arpke's full name was Anna Marie Sophie Ridder. Marie was also known as Mary in some American lists. She was born before 1800 in Lippe-Detmold, possibly Bentorf. Marie and her children are listed in the original Lipper Settlers to the Town of Herman. She is listed as "Widow Marie Arpke" in entry #1. Marie's husband was Heinrich Adolf Arpke, known as Adolf Arpke in American lists. Heinrich Adolf Arpke was born Heinrich Adolf Sieker June 8 1777 in Echternhagen. On August 8 1805 he married Anna Katharina Arpke (or Böke), and he changed his name to Arpke. Anna Katharina was born approximately 1742 in Eichholz Amt Hohenhausen. Anna Katharina died December 26 1819. Heinrich Adolf Arpke then married Anna Marie Sophie Ridder in approximately 1820 in Hohenhausen. Heinrich Adolf Arpke died in 1843, several years prior to the trip to America by the original Lipper Settlers. Marie and Adolf Arpke lived in Eichholz, Lippe-Detmold, prior to Adolf's death and prior to the trip to America. Adolf was a carpenter in Eichholz. Children born in Lippe-Detmold (all born in Eichholz Amt Hohenhausen) 1.Marie Sophie Arpke, born February 4 1821 2. Fredericke Wilhelmine Arpke, born March 1 1823, died February 16 1843 in Eichholz 3. Simon Friederich Arpke, born September 20 1824 4. Adolf Heinrich Arpke, born August 11 1826 5.
