Johann Friederich Martensmeier's parents Summary Johann Friederich Adolph Martensmeier was born September 21 1840 in Langenholzhausen, Lippe-Detmold. He was listed under his father, Heinrich Adolf Martensmeier, as part of the group of original Lipper Settlers. He married Amalia Schmieding on August 22 1862. Amalia Schmieding came from Luerdissen, Lippe-Detmold. Amalia's mother died in Lippe-Detmold in 1845. She is listed on the list of Lipper Settlers as coming to the Town of Herman in 1847 with her father, "Widower" Schmieding. Amalia suffered another tragedy when her father died on the ship, Agnes of Bremen, as it traveled to America. He was buried at sea. Johann and Amalia moved to Schaller, Iowa.
