Adolf Marten's full name was Heinrich Adolf Martensmeier. He dropped the "meier" suffix from his name in Wisconsin, was known by his middle name, Adolf.

Adolf Marten and his wife, Johanne Friederike Helmingsmeier, were listed as part of the original Lipper Settlers who came to the Town of Herman, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin in 1847. 

Adolf was born in Langenholzhausen, Lippe-Detmold, in September 8 1797. He died on June 10 1883 in the Town Herman and was buried in Immanuel Church Cemetery, Town of Herman, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin.

Adolf and Johanne were married on April 23 1832, and they lived in Langenholzhausen until their departure for America in 1847.

Adolf and Johanne had 9 children. The first 4 children were born in Langenholzhausen. The fifth child was stillborn on the journey from Langenholzhausen to the Town of Herman and is nameless. The other 4 children were born in the Town of Herman.

5. There was a nameless child still-born in the Wisconsin wilderness between Milwaukee and the Town of Herman. 

Children were born in the Town of Herman, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin.
