Corrections, comments, and questions sent to the email address at the bottom of the page are very welcome. Summary There were two men named Nagel in the original group of Lipper Settlers. Franz Nagel with a wife and five daughters are listed in entry number 8 the list of original Lipper Settlers. Fritz Nagel, unmarried, is listed as entry number 5 under "Other Young Men" in the list of original Lipper Settlers. Information that was hand-written in a family Bible in possession of the grandson of Franz Nagel indicated that Franz and Fritz Nagel were brothers. Franz Nagel was married to a woman named Wilhelmina in Lippe-Detmold. Her family name before marriage is unknown. The town in Lippe-Detmold from which they came is unknown to me. Reference 9 lists Franz Nagel, his wife and children as living in Langenholzhausen before traveling to Wisconsin. Franz was listed as a "Straßenkötter" (street worker). Also, reference 9 confirmed that Fritz Nagel and Franz Nagel were brothers, and they also had a third brother, Adolf. At the time of a census which was recorded in 1860, Franz was age 52 and Wilhelmina was age 42. Thus, Franz was born in 1808 and Wilhelmina in 1818. Franz and Wilhelmina had a total of 8 children. Five children were born in Lippe-Detmold and 3 more in the Town of Herman in Wisconsin. Other information on this page comes from Immanuel Church records.
